The Old Shell Game

It's been a pretty busy few days so far as news from the entertainment industry: first, everyone heard that Disney is buying Marvel; then, some heard that the Japanese publishing company Kodansha had dropped all of its manga licenses with the American distributing company Tokyopop; and now, some others have heard that the American anime distributing company ADV Films has been parcelled out among many different companies with somewhat odd names. I suppose I saw comments from others that "this is not the end" early enough to not worry about this the way others did, and yet I am conscious of hearing bad news about ADV last year, and how the nickel-paring DVDs they managed to put out afterwards already had a different company name on them... Once more, I'm hearing others pontificate about how the mighty have fallen (although in this case apparently well before this bit of news) and reflecting on all the DVDs with the ADV logo that I have, some of them not even opened yet.
