(...and those who might see this entry ask, "Wait, you were away?")
My vacation is over at last, and in some ways I feel good about having a weekend open after it. While able to contrast how fast flying back from Copenhagen seemed compared to heading out on the ship, I wound up stuck in a customs line during what was supposed to be a short layover at Washington, D.C., and had to get myself booked on the evening flight and then have my suitcase delivered the next day by courier. Still, it worked out in the end.
The last days of the cruise, heading around the Baltic, were interesting in their own way. I sort of want to make the observation now that the passengers seemed to be a "retired" crowd, older than my parents, and the exceptions seemed occasional. Still, that's an observation. As much as I wished at times for more time on one city or another, it was great not to have to keep packing when moving on and figuring out just where to stay beforehand.
Now that I'm no longer racing the clock connected (although some shore days where I didn't get around to that gave me more time to use later on), "catching up" is an indulgent temptation. I am wondering a bit about now getting around to commenting on some posts by
incisivis, but I'm not sure if it's polite to add comments to weeks-old posts, or if I should just try and write a large post in the hopes it'll get seen. As well, I'm sort of wishing I could have chimed in on the "tenth anniversary of The Phantom Menace" posts I saw; still, even if I'd thought there'd been space to pack my Star Wars DVDs (after all, I always want to see "the whole thing" when I do get started), I'm sure I would have been too busy to watch them.
