A little while back, I posted about how a contest to name the observation module to be added to the space station was getting a rather large number of votes contributed from the fans of Stephen Colbert. At the time, I knew that the contest rules would permit NASA to not just have to apply the name that got the most votes, so I supposed that the officially proposed runner-up "Serenity" would be picked, if with the awareness that that would reflect the "Firefly" fans chiming in... but, as it turned out, the one voter-submitted name that seemed to actually fit in with the official suggestions, "Tranquility," got selected. That somehow leaves me sort of pleased. Still, the Colbert fans got something out of it (as I saw a few suggestions for compromise before the fact): the treadmill will be named the Combined Operational Load Bearing External Resistance Treadmill...
