Return to Earth

It turned out once again that I got the first confirmation of the safe landing of space shuttle Atlantis by listening to the radio news on the drive back from work. Everything seems to have gone very smoothly this time around, save for one little corner of insulation sticking out and an astronaut having to take a sick day.
While the mission was under way, I happened to hear that two Canadian astronauts have indeed been scheduled to future space flights, one (who I happened to meet a decade and a half ago, when I was lucky enough to be picked for a sort of "national youth interested in space get-together") on one of the remaining space shuttle flights (I'm starting to be struck by how few of them are left), and one to get to make a duration stay on the space station. They're both one step closer to that.
