While it turned out that I was on my own way to work right when it happened, I managed to learn the latest Soyuz flight to the space station launched. While I don't keep track of them the way I did with space shuttle launches (thoughts about "the expectation of unexciting reliability" come to mind), this time I was aware that one of the Canadian astronauts was on board, and also knew that Chris Hadfield would be taking charge of the space station partway through his time in space. However, in keeping up with the coverage I realised I'd forgotten another one of the Canadian astronauts, Bob Thirsk, had spent a similar length of time in space...
