It was too bad to hear that the Russian Mars probe (the name of which became a little odder to me when it wasn't translated as "Phobos-Ground") had fallen back into Earth's atmosphere. However, right now it doesn't seem that the worries drummed up in the news about the fuel in its tanks freezing while it was stuck in Earth orbit and making it to the ground as a toxic lump have come to too much. In that time, too, I suppose it was possible to come to terms with thoughts of the mission ending too early, but there is the risk of just thinking "those unlucky Russians, their probe gobbled up again" too. I suppose all I can do is keep hoping for the Curiosity rover; but there, of course, something going wrong in the final approach might strike without lead time.
