Working my way through the last few episodes in the first season Clone Wars DVD set, I've got to "Innocents of Ryloth," but in some ways I'm reminded of my hopes before watching the first "Ryloth episode" that I was about to run out of things to say. In the little documentary, there seemed no attempts to make any connections to "fan-popular" parts of Star Wars (beyond, perhaps, a comment that having two clonetroopers befriend a refugee child was somehow trying to connect "old fans" and "new fans"... although I'm not quite certain if I'm reporting the comment correctly.) I perhaps might not have had a lot of strong reactions to these episodes in the first place. Still, a comment that the situation in the episode is meant to make people think of other, similar things happening elsewhere in the Clone Wars did get my attention. While I can think that the sort of "core" events in a story shouldn't be overwhelmed by "side stories," those smaller tales can be interesting too.
