Although I didn't get very much sleep at all after my second of two scheduled night shifts, that did mean I was able to watch the official NASA stream of the second Falcon 9 test launch. Even after the first one had succeeded, I was concerned for the second, as it had pushed on to testing not just the rocket but the Dragon capsule it's supposed to launch. However, the launch seemed to go well; I'm struck by how the rocket's kerosene fuel gives it a slight, perhaps even "retro" resemblance to the Saturn launches. By the afternoon, I had heard the capsule had splashed down and been located. I don't know if this means SpaceX is transitioning from "the rocket might work" to "the rocket will work," or if "may" will be removed from the comments that the Dragon capsule "may" carry astronauts one day, but today at least was interesting.
