I managed to get up this morning just in time to see space shuttle Atlantis landing in Florida on the official streaming video. That means that it both launched on the first attempt and landed on the first attempt: the weather in November must be cooperative. In between, the mission seemed to have gone pretty well: the biggest problem I was aware of was false alarms waking people up. (Being on a rotating shift now, though, I suppose I'm conscious of sleep issues.) There was also a human interest story in the wife of one of the astronauts having a baby while he was in orbit. With this mission over, I'm conscious again of how there are only five more planned, and at the moment the final mission is now less than a year away...
