To watch a movie would seem to be a simple thing, and yet I keep finding it hard to block out two hours or so in a day to manage that. For all that I can worry “my attention span must be shot,” that’s not the only issue here. One thing that did happen in recent months was noticing the library in the next city over offers the “Kanopy” video streaming service, and after learning anyone in the region can get a library card there I managed to sign up and even to watch several movies. Certain thoughts that “to set down an opinion about everything isn’t an altogether good thing” kept me from mentioning them here, though.

So far as blocking out time goes, anyway, this was one more year I got around to watching through my Star Wars Blu-Ray set in between “my” Thanksgiving and Christmas. I was a little conscious that as I did that I’d get past the tenth anniversary of the sale of Lucasfilm, which brings up certain unfortunate thoughts of having felt slight concern this would “disturb an ever-risky to mention personal balance” only to end up writing the whole continued-and-expanded thing off more or less as surely as I drifted away from the previous mass of novels. This year I had at least considered watching the “older film print scans” I'd just happened get my hands on just to see what I’d got, but unfortunately a few too many backhanded comments (often holding up the “Despecialized” alternative) made me decide to stick with the Blu-Rays. Then, in being aware a new Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode was going to be streamed just as I’d laid grandiose plans to watch some anime movies and having happened to have booked a Monday off work for some car servicing, I managed to cram the back half of the set into one weekend (which isn’t quite as much as “watching six movies in between Friday and Sunday evenings”). After having wondered “well, perhaps the looped music of the ‘extended scenes’ might be a little hard for me to digest?”, though, not really seeming to be affected by that this time around did surprise me a bit.
