I do like being able to shift back and forth between "older anime" and "new stuff," although maybe it amounts to hollow boasting; anyway, it can also seem to mean I'm always putting off something else I want to see too.
Perhaps I missed those "mixed reviews" of Scum's Wish, and perhaps I decided early on in the series I wasn't going to see it as a "realistic" work but instead find entertainment in the excess. In any case, having bought the Blu-Ray and all the manga already might have encouraged me to be as positive as possible...
In the long slog of off-model episodes of Cinderella Nine, I did get to hoping I could say something in this summary about "it obviously didn't win the pennant, but it did stay a few games out of the cellar." Of course, there's the question now of just when the wrap-up episode will be available.
Did you use to have a laserdisc player? The Gall Force DVDs themselves are probably long out of print, being from Central Park Media/US Manga Corp. I'm also aware of what you've said about "the risk of returning" to other period series.
