It was close to ten years ago now when someone on the old "Anime on DVD" message board was putting "Powerpuff Girls-style" icons on their posts; I was tickled by them myself and started saving the pictures. The Gunbuster one appealed the most to me: it's a "dynamic" group shot whereas most of the others I saved are of just one character; also, my awareness of the OVA runs back to the days when I was just starting to look up information online and discovered there'd been a "parody fandub" turning it into a spurious continuation of Robotech, which made getting to see it a few years later at my university's anime club that much more interesting. While there might be the slightest feeling of awkwardness in my mind in using an icon without having properly saved the credits for it, I guess I just couldn't resist this one case, and as much as both aspects of it have become somewhat "retro" these days I'm not quite the sort to update every season.
(However, I have noticed the eyes of "Noriko" and "Kazumi" don't match their hair colour, which they do in the OVA; when being pedantic I think of the icon not as "the Gunbuster characters in Powerpuff Girls style" but as "the Powerpuff Girls 'cosplay' as Gunbuster characters.")
