From the Bookshelf: the Leviathan series

Back in what I can now suppose the later days of the Science Fiction Book Club, one of the books in their flyers that caught my eye was promoted as an "alternative history." Set at the start of World War I, the novel promised the grandiose addition of mechanical war "walkers" to the Central Powers and genetically engineered monsters to the Allies. I put in an order for Scott Westerfeld's Leviathan, but suppose now it got sort of caught by my being put on shift, where I didn't have quite the same time to read, and it just sat in a pile until quite recently.
