Vanished Journal
Dec. 3rd, 2012 07:31 pmIn a random sort of mood, I was following links from my bookmarks when I found something I hadn't been looking for. The Saga Journal site appears to have expired and been shut down. I suppose I have my own responsibility for this; I had contributed to keep it online before, but it had been a while since I had looked at the "Anakin Skywalker Home Page Forums," inhabited entirely by indefatigable spammers nowadays.
While there are certainly people promoting positive interpretations of all the Star Wars movies, there was something to the softer sell of the Saga Journal essays as well. I suppose I'm now wondering if I could put the three essays I wrote for it on my own personal page, which could certainly do with updating; I can look back at them and wish I'd written them better, though.
This isn't quite the last word on the subject, though, because I was in a bookstore on the weekend and I noticed a book titled "Star Wars and History," which did bring a certain number of the Saga Journal essays to mind. The book did look "official," and after running across some "unofficial commentary volumes" on other series that seemed to fall open to cheap shots in passing at Star Wars, I'd like to hope that "official" appearance would amount to something... but I didn't look into the book in any detail.
