I happened to see the news not at Satellite News but on someone else's journal that a list of titles and release date has been set for the next Mystery Science Theater 3000 DVD set from "Shout! Factory." I had been thinking in the past few days that they hadn't wasted any time in announcing the fourteenth set on the heels of the "20th Anniversary Edition," but with this news I can suppose they still aren't resting on their laurels very much.
The list of titles did get my attention. Following "Soultaker" in the set now out, "The Robot vs. The Aztec Mummy" is another episode I've already commented on, and it might be nice in an odd way to watch it without "having" to think about how to describe it, despite the occasional thought that the movie's title is the most impressive thing about it... although we're also going to get the first instalment of "Commando Cody and the Radar Men from the Moon" to go along with the second. "The Girl in Lover's Lane" might fit in with other "juvenile delinquent" movies the series has featured, although it does seem one of the least "sensationalistic" movies that have appeared there. "Zombie Nightmare" is definitely more "sensationalistic," featuring a young Tia Carrere and a middle-aged Adam West, neither as the ultimately fairly nightmarish zombie out for revenge. "Racket Girls" is also "sensationalistic" in its own way what with its female wrestlers, and the episode features the short "Are You Ready for Marriage?", which inspired some "host segments" that just might have a bit more resonance right now than they did when they were made. The bonus features also sound interesting; I can at least wonder what "Glimpses of KTMA" and "Joel Hodgson And Trace Beaulieu Visit M.I.T." will feature. The set now out seems a little lighter in terms of bonus of features, although there are some excerpts from a show named "Cheap Seats," featuring two guys "riffing" on strange sportscasts... although we get only enough of that work of theirs to set up the jokes for some of their "host segments" that just happened to have Mike, Tom Servo, and Crow T. Robot pop up at the bottom of the screen for.
