I spent a fair part of last weekend travelling back home for Mother's Day and heading back again, but before that I also indulged myself in continuing my experiment of watching all the Star Wars movies reordered so as to put the new movies "in the middle." In the middle of them, Attack of the Clones is the one movie in this particular order with its "familiar companions" still on either side (although I suppose saying that does betray leanings towards "numerical order" rather than "production order"). I have to admit that I wondered a little about my previous thoughts that it was somehow risky to "abandon all ambiguity" when, in some of the opening scenes on Coruscant, the dialogue began seeming just a little odd somehow... then, I wondered if that had to do with that environment being very "mannered" and, after the comparable scenes on Naboo, the feeling faded. A thought ambiguous in a different way could stick further in my mind then, though, and that was how the complaints of some about how "Padme doesn't roll with the punches in Revenge of the Sith" seemed to contrast against her seeming pretty shaken up to me when her decoy Corde was killed in the opening moments of the movie...

However, I don't think these thoughts weighed me down in the end, and I also didn't feel as impatient for the "character-scale" conflicts to resume during the "clones versus droids" battle as I might have been during my last viewing. Having tried recently to remind myself of an awareness of the cross-cutting between Anakin and Padme in Revenge of the Sith, I was also a little struck by how Anakin starts to recover from having been hit with Force lightning and then Padme starts to recover from landing on a sand dune.
