I happened to notice an interesting post linked to on a comics weblog today: The 12 Levels of Comic Book Fan Agreement. What interested me the most about it was that once I had stepped past the "comic book" in the title, the levels could basically apply to everything. Some further contemplation followed. As glad as I feel for having found a small group of Star Wars fans who have found "much the same reason" to stay positive about the movies as a whole (and "trade theories," as the post mentions), I do wonder at times if my disinterest in the novels means I'm unaware of people who are interested in them and manage not to say too much about the movies... people on the same "level," but in completely different areas. I also pondered the use of fanfiction as a tool for refining the later levels of fan agreement; that may be one area where not poking around too much has made ignorance bliss.
