Star *Warriors?* Maybe not.
Nov. 30th, 2006 06:00 pmI've spent many a time poking around assorted online sites that analyse various SF shows and the like from a "technical" perspective, and it's entertaining enough in moderation. (Carry it too far, and I'm left with the impression that you can lose sight of first the characters and then much of what made things interesting in the first place.) At times, though, I'm worried that the "technical perspective" would look down on the battle scenes in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith (not to single them out altogether) for not being as deftly strategised as a computer-chair general might like.
I've formed my escape from this fear, though, and it's to conclude that the Jedi and the Republic were once so effective in the "thousand years" referred to from time to time as to make the opposing forces of the Clone Wars created altogether from scratch and existing forces such as Naboo's more suited for the parade ground than combat. Utopian, given the seedy undertones some embrace in the Star Wars universe? Perhaps. Still, I do occasionally enjoy the thought that everyone in Star Wars is just starting out at the game.
