Now I'm feeling a little bad at the thought of letting one ill-intentioned anecdote shape impressions of a whole work (the author was mentioning "instant leaving-the-theatre dislike" from all his friends, anyway) and wondering if it's possible for an artist (or even a creative company) to try and counter widespread opinions without coming off sounding in some way wrong. Still, as you said it's insidious.
