The Big Picture Post
Sep. 6th, 2012 08:08 pmI've made it back from my two weeks of vacation, and after a day off to try and recover from the jet lag I'm getting around to uploading a few more pictures and making a proper post of them. To try and keep from making too big a deal of it, I'm putting them behind a "cut."

A bubbling mudpot among steaming sulfur vents.

The site of Iceland's first parliament, and not at all what I'd expected. I was able to remember all the same, though, that it was mentioned in one of the letters read at the end of a Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode... I just can't remember which of Joel's it was.

I kept taking pictures of this geyser, trying to get one at "full blast." This might be about the best I took.

After Iceland, it was off to the Orkneys with rain and bad weather chasing us. I took this picture from under an umbrella that later broke in the seaside winds.

Not the Cawdor Castle featured in Macbeth; it was apparently built after the actual king lived.
It was all in all a good vacation, but in some ways I'm glad to be back and settling in again.
