Any Publicity is Good Publicity

In my Friday newspaper, I noticed that the DVD column featured the Mystery Science Theater 3000 collection about to be released. As the show had never got on TV up here, I'm interested any time someone else in the country knows about it, but I did happen to notice that among the description of the show's basic premise, the columnist seemed to be concentrating on "The Robot Versus The Aztec Mummy." That made me start wondering if the columnist had just pulled the first DVD out of the set and focused on it, and brought to mind all those comments from various people about how the first season of the show was improved on later on... still, beyond seeming sort of unimpressed with the "host segments" (which was, in fact, a somehow refreshing perspective for me to encounter with the episode-by-episode discussion on "Satellite News" getting a little worked up over the changes in the host segments at the start of the show's seventh season), the column seemed capable enough to me of selling both the collection and the show.

Now I'm just wondering if a Shout Factor release means I'd actually be able to find it up here, and thus begin my MST3K education....

I can't remember if I've seen the latest Shout Factory collections in stores, although I certainly did see their new Transformers collection just a weekend or so ago. My problem is that I can buy everything online, so seeing something in a store is usually just an amusement...
