An Atypical "Battlestar Galactica" Post...

I watched the latest episode of Battlestar Galactica last night with my usual measured interest. This morning, though, I made a connection about one small point in it, and all of a sudden felt compelled to do something unusual and share it with the world...

There's a scene in which one character holds a gun on another, and I recall the gun in question as being different from the usual ones used on the series, with four stubby barrels in a square at the front. What I realized today was that a very similar kind of "zap gun" had appeared in the movie "Space Mutiny," and one small thing contributing to its infamy is that its "special effects" were stock footage from the original Battlestar Galactica... (Of course, the point is constantly made that Mystery Science Theater 3000 somehow missed commenting on that.)

I suppose it's possible that I'm misremembering the scene now, in which case this post will wind up a faintly embarrasing memorial to over-enthusiasm. Still, the connection is amusing to think about.
