That’s quite a bit of anime for one quarter! And I’m always a bit amused at your self-examination in context to general popularity / opinion. Oftentimes the masses are just snobs and miss the key points and subtleties in a series. Who cares about popularity or other opinions anyway?
There were a lot of recap episodes across this season, and perhaps there is an outbreak of production problems in general. Scheduling is very tight in the best of situations; there’s not much room for error.
I tend to be critical of shows like Darling in the Franxx because I want them to be so much better. But in general, I still love the flawed series. The main measure of satisfaction is if I’m willing to purchase the series on optical disc for my home library. Easy test. Darling in the Franxx: Yes. Girls und Panzer: Yes. Full Metal Panic Invisible Victory: Maybe. (I have the other series on DVD, and I tend to be a completionist collector.) All the other shows you mentioned: No. I greatly enjoyed Chihayafuru but have no need to watch it again.
