Deadly Slime Village USA (MST3K Rides Again)
As another official collection of Mystery Science Theater 3000 DVDs begins shipping from Shout! Factory, I started wondering if the people there would once more have managed to get the rights to another four episodes in time to announce them. Checking Satellite News, I saw that they indeed had.
After noticing a bit of concerned speculation the last time or so around that rights to "The Slime People" would be too difficult to get, I saw it included after all to fill in a gap from the first season and present all the "riffing" ever done on "Commando Cody and the Radar Men From the Moon." "Rocket Attack USA" was another title that seems to please many, and "Village of the Giants" has its own certain notoriety. The early eighth-season episodes continue to be included with "The Deadly Mantis," enjoyable in its own way, although now I'm left wondering when and if "The Leech Woman" will get into an official collection. There's always the chance the sort-of expected will roll around once more, of course.
